Together with its German partner, Renner Architekten, KHR Architecture has been selected as one of 8 teams to design a sketch proposal for a new urban school totalling 20,000 m2 in the Elbinsel district in Wilhelmsburg. The construction cost is estimated at 30 million Euro.
A new international team of interns has started at KHR and has already been introduced to some of the projects they will be working on for the next five months.
Hotel de Ville in Gilleleje combines transformation and new construction in an atmospheric seaside hotel where historic architecture meets modern comfort. KHR Architecture was responsible for the concept and design proposal for the project, where the former town hall from 1939 has been transformed into a spa and conference hotel with almost 40 rooms, restaurant, wellness area and sun terrace with outdoor pool. The architectural approach is based on the existing qualities of the site and continues the original expression of the building in a contemporary interpretation. The choice of materials, proportions and detailing tie new and old together and support the ambition to create an atmospheric lake and sea bath with both character and tranquillity.
It used to be the town hall and cultural centre, but the fine buildings with a lovely location by the water in Gilleleje will be the setting for a new "Sø- og Havbad" with almost 40 rooms and a nice wellness area.
