Architect and PhD Vicki Thake is part of one of 10 interdisciplinary teams that have each been awarded 250,000 DKK for the development and use of materials based on the Dreyer Fund Open Call on #MATERIALS.
Architect MAA, PhD
Vicki Thake defended her PhD thesis on 1 July to a full house at KADK.
Read about KHR Architecture's partner Jan Søndergaard and our business PhD Vicki Thake in this month's MARK magazine. The article talks about a long-standing collaboration with Fiberline Composites where the meeting between architecture and the transparent fiber composite material is developed.
We are proud that our Business PhD student Vicki Thake, as the first architect ever, has been selected to receive the Danish Composite Award 2017 for her PhD "Space - fibre reinforced polymer composites in architectural context".
KHR Architecture values the development of materials. Therefore, we have a professional PhD investigating fibre-reinforced polymer composites. Read about the research project in Architect 09 on pages 46-49, September Vol. 18. where Vicki Thake describes the many exciting studies and experiments in how we can design a material with digital control for production.
During the exhibition period, the 'Generic Bocelle' project has evolved even further:The fibre structure has been fitted with a new frame developed from translucent glass fibre laminates supplied by Fiberline Composites.
The production of building elements for the "Generic Bocelle" is now in full swing.
