Occupational health and safety coordination
Health and safety coordination is a statutory responsibility for the client - but it is also a strategic opportunity to strengthen quality, progress and accountability in construction. At KHR, we offer professional and impartial health and safety coordination in both the design and construction phases. Our health and safety consultants ensure that health and safety is considered from the start to reduce risks, strengthen collaboration and ensure the project is completed safely and efficiently.

Owner responsibilities and legislation
When there are multiple employers on site at the same time, the client is obliged to appoint a health and safety coordinator. This applies to both the design phase (P) and the construction phase (B). The coordinator must ensure that the working environment is planned, coordinated and documented, including the preparation of a Health and Safety Plan (HSP) and records for future work. As a client, you can't shirk this responsibility - but it can be professionally managed with the right advisor.
See the Danish Working Environment Authority's guidance on the client's obligations.

Health and Safety Coordinator P - safety starts in the design phase
As a design phase (P) health and safety coordinator, we analyse accident and health risks and work closely with architects and engineers to reduce or eliminate them. We ensure that logistics, schedules and working methods support safe construction, and we draw up the PSS so that requirements and roles are clear to contractors. At the same time, we incorporate health and safety considerations into the future operation and maintenance of the building.

Health & Safety Coordinator B - structure and collaboration on site
In the construction phase (B), we ensure a clear start-up, clear roles and effective communication between construction parties. We organise coordinating safety meetings, carry out inspections and rounds, and systematically follow up on agreements and goals. Our occupational health and safety efforts are customised to each project and contribute to a construction site with high safety, good planning and shared responsibility.

An impartial advisor - an empowered client
In many projects, several roles are combined with the executing parties. By letting an independent advisor handle the health and safety coordination, the client gets an independent sparring partner with full focus on planning, documentation and follow-up. This strengthens the overview, clarifies responsibility and supports constructive collaboration between all parties involved in the construction project.
At the same time, professional health and safety management contributes to fewer interruptions and a more stable construction process - with positive effects on economy, quality and ESG.
