    Gartnerhaven - masterplan and housing project

Overview

Gartnerhaven is a new green residential area where KHR will design 18,000 sqm of housing. KHR has been involved right from the development of a new master plan for the area, where KHR Byplan has guided the developer group behind the project safely throughout the process, ensuring a good dialogue with and the right deliveries to Hvidovre Municipality's administration.
Preparations are now being made to realise the local plan, where KHR Architecture is the architectural consultant for property developer Core Bolig X, which is developing one of the four building sites in Gartnerhaven. Spread across three different building typologies, a total of 192 new apartments and 32 townhouses will be created.

North German competition hat trick

KHR Architecture wins another contract in Northern Germany together with local architectural and engineering firm bpplan. This time the project is an extension of the Hochrad Gymnasium in Hamburg, which is to be made 5-lane and expanded with a new large sports hall.

Hochrad Grammar School

Gymnasium Hochrad is a secondary school for grades 5-13 in an attractive residential area on the banks of the Elbe just on the outskirts of Hamburg.
The school will be expanded with a new building for classrooms and canteen. Old sports halls are to be replaced by a new one.
Due to limited space, the idea is to place the large volume of the sports hall at -1 level on the sloping terrain. This creates a more harmonious whole in terms of height and makes it possible to utilise parts of the hall's roof to expand the schoolyard. The stairs between the existing and the new outdoor area create a nice seating oasis with a view of the schoolyard to the south.
The classroom building itself is built as a two-storey, lightweight wooden structure on top of the other part of the sports hall, which minimises the carbon footprint and saves space.
