New build and renovation of residential and commercial buildings at Hvidovrevejs Butikstorv

Heart K/S, owned by London-based private equity firm Zetland Capital, has selected KHR Architecture as architectural advisor on a project to revitalize Hvidovrevejs Butikstorv and add approximately 8,400 sqm of apartments, shops and parking to the area.

"The existing Hvidovrevejs Butikstorv will be renewed and combined with a new building of both residential and commercial, as stipulated in the local plan from 2020," explains partner and design director Torben Juul from KHR Architecture.

"We are in the final stages of the authority project and expect the new building to start in 2023. The plan then is to upgrade and give a facelift to the current centre to fit in with the new one being built. At the same time, the focus is on creating outdoor living spaces to benefit residents and the local environment. The local plan includes a publicly accessible square of approximately 1400 sqm."

The acquisition of Hvidovrevejs Butikstorv in August was Zetland Capital's second investment in Denmark and comprises 7841 existing square meters divided into 4,704 sqm of retail space and 47 residential units. An additional 8,400 sqm is zoned for student housing, apartments, commercial space and parking in Hvidovre Municipality's Local Plan 144 from 2020. The new building will be DGNB Gold certified.

KHR Architecture has increased its focus on residential projects since 2021 and currently has 65 000 sqm housing during project planning.

"I am very pleased that all our projects are continuing despite the current market situation. Our holistic approach to good architecture, social sustainability and buildability seems to be right on target, and I am sure that both current and new residents at Hvidovrevejs Butikstorv will be happy with the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2025," says Torben Juul.

KHR Architecture collaborates with other engineering consultants WSPand Marianne Levinsen Landscape on the project. Markland is developing the project for Zetland Capitals.
