Unique building with green facade

DCPT appears as a unique building clad with a varying green facade and sedum roof, which helps to give the massive concrete volume a friendly and welcoming expression. The scale is dispersed by shifts in the volume and the penetration of light in the green planting - especially at the main entrance.

The competition project includes the design and construction of the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy

The approximately 8,000 m² centre is the only one of its kind in Denmark and offers highly specialised cancer treatment to cancer patients from all over the country. The DCPT is equipped with a proton accelerator, three treatment rooms, research facilities and facilities for patients, relatives and clinical staff and is part of Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby.

"While the DCPT functions as its own entity, the building's transition to the existing AUH is expressed through the north facade's brick cladding and aluminum transom windows, from which the center is directly connected to the rest of the AUH."
