Overview

The renovation of a 16-storey 50s apartment building for the MKB housing company has given both an aesthetic and a functional boost to the building. The high-rise has a magnificent view over the Øresund, with new balconies running like ribbons around the front of the building.

Tape of balconies

The building has gone from being closed to being very open, with a magnificent view over the Øresund and the green area around Malmö Stadium. To make the most of this view, a prefabricated balcony system with a width of 1.5 metres and transparent guards was added. The balconies run as horizontal bands on the front of the building and help to give the building a striking profile when viewed from the street.

Functional facelift

Inside, the addition of balconies means a revision of the apartment design, extending the living space far into the horizon. The new sliding doors in the facade give residents an extra space in the summer months. The building has been given a functional facelift, providing residents with an enhanced quality of life and strengthening a wide range of social initiatives.

New partners and management profiles

KHR Architecture continues its strategic growth by expanding its management team and partners. Trestensvej - social and private housing

On Trestensvej in Skælskør, a mixed residential area is being created with 34 apartments in circular houses and 24 homes in terraced houses. KHR Architecture is the architectural consultant for the social housing company Bo-Vita and the property company Trestensvej ApS, who have joined forces on the social part of the project in a delegated client model. The project is being developed in collaboration with Sandkjær and Svanen Development. In addition to the 58 homes, green common areas and a community centre will be created to create a good community on Trestensvej.

Auditorium transformation

The auditorium at Carlsberg Campus has been redesigned to better match the actual needs and thus achieve a higher utilisation of the room. Carlsberg Campus educates teachers, pedagogues, sign language interpreters and textile mediators, and teaching here is centred around dialogue and group work rather than one-way communication to large groups, as the original layout suggested. Kathrine Wang Esbjørn has been responsible for the entire process, from workshops and analyses to defining needs and obtaining quotes. The project is ready for DGNB space certification if the client wishes.

New DGNB certification: DGNB for Interiors
