On Trestensvej in Skælskør, Skippertoften is being developed: a mixed-use residential area comprising 34 flats in circular buildings and 24 terraced houses. KHR Architecture is acting as architectural consultant for the social housing association Bo-Vita and the property company Trestensvej ApS, which have joined forces on the social housing part of the project under a delegated client model. The project is being developed in collaboration with Sandkjær and Svanen Development. In addition to the 58 homes, green communal areas and a community centre are being created to foster a strong sense of community on Trestensvej.

Public and private housing
In addition to the circular buildings, there are also terraced houses and a community centre that supports social activities and community among the residents. The development will consist of both public and private housing built in a delegated developer model.

'Circular' communities
Two circular buildings create a unique architectural expression and contribute to a strong sense of community among residents through the shared outdoor space in the centre.
One of the circle houses is a senior community, which of course also benefits from being part of the larger community in the development.
Throughout the project, a close interaction between housing and landscape is envisaged.
