KHR Architecture hires four architects with experience from German projects in order to fulfil its tasks in Germany at a high level. In the past year, KHR Architecture has won four projects in Northern Germany, which the new colleagues will work on. The first three new colleagues have just started and the last one will follow in January.
Glasblokkene is a hospital for children, young people and women in Bergen. The hospital is designed and built in two stages with four building blocks in each. This is a unique project both architecturally and in terms of the design and construction process itself. Glasblokkene II is the first fully digital hospital construction project in the world.
Despite really high quality in architecture, materials and workmanship, the building was completed at a price per square metre that is significantly lower than other Norwegian hospital buildings, and on schedule.
KHR Architecture, together with a German team, has won the task of realising a school centre for 1800 students in the town of Lehrte near Hannover.
Schulzentrum Lehrte-Süd is a large school project where KHR Architecture, together with German partners, will design and project manage a comprehensive school for 1500 students in the town of Lehrte near Hannover in Northern Germany. The project includes the preservation of an existing building and the architecture will allow some of the school's facilities to be used for external activities and events after school hours. This is a PPP project with a 25-year term, which provides a good opportunity to prioritise long-lasting architectural and material solutions.
Space planning takes on a special significance when a new organisation is created. In connection with the merger of three organisations into one, KHR Architecture helped EIFO with the design of a new headquarters of 10,600 sqm spread over four floors in Orienthuset in Nordhavnen, where 450 employees are now based. The task was solved using an evidence-based approach with questionnaires and user surveys as the basis for the chosen concept and the specific interior design. The space planning work, including the organisation of EU tenders, was carried out as part of a broader tenant consultancy by EIFO.
