Join us on a construction site in Nuuk

16 March 2023

Nuuk School has been designed with an eye for differentiated forms of learning and as a gathering place for the entire neighbourhood. A number of specially developed techniques and solutions in both architecture and interior design make the project a school in a class of its own.
Associate Partner and Project Manager Morten Nøhr Frandsen has been in Nuuk to supervise the large new school being built in Nuuk. See the fresh pictures from the construction site here.

Social sustainability is a key focus of the project. In addition to being a school that is designed with an eye for inclusion and different forms of learning, it is also intended as a gathering place for the neighbourhood's residents.

Beautiful Arctic March weather.
The facade will be clad with facade panels cut into shapes of local flora and fauna, which will be placed in front of coloured panels. The technique was developed specifically for the project.
The use of colour is part of Greenlandic building tradition. At the same time, colours and shapes give identity to the different sections of the school, Contributes to wayfinding and provide input for learning.
Red cedar is also part of the façade. The Arctic climate places high demands on the materials if they are to be long-lasting and age gracefully.

Wayfinding - Ministry of Foreign Affairs' goods delivery

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs experienced challenges with the goods drop-off at Asiatisk Plads. Parcel couriers struggled to find the right entrance and understand how to drop off parcels. The result was frequent intercom calls and the need for manual assistance. With a new wayfinding solution, a clearer and more intuitive process has been created, combining clear supergraphics with practical solutions to make life easier and more efficient for both suppliers and employees.
