KHR Architecture, together with a German team, has won the task of realising a school centre for 1800 students in the town of Lehrte near Hannover.
The name Atuarfik Inussuk refers to the man-made signposts in the landscape that have historically been used for navigation in Greenland. The ambition of the school is to create an optimal framework for learning, education and social life, so that children and young people can be shown a good path in life. The school must be open to the local community after school hours in order to create the best conditions for well-being in the local community. Malene K. Holm interviewed creative partner Janina Zerbe about the ideas behind the large new school, which will be completed next year.
Atuarfik Inussuk is the name chosen for Nuuk's new school from 228 entries in a naming competition organised by Sermersooq Municipality. Inussuk means "cairn", which is a man-made pile of stones that has traditionally been used to show the way.
Skien has a beautiful new nursing home with room for approximately 110 residents and 30 day users. KHR Architecture was the architectural consultant on the project, which was inaugurated by Norway's Minister of Health and Care Services last week.
KHR Architecture wins another contract in Northern Germany together with local architectural and engineering firm bpplan. This time the project is an extension of the Hochrad Gymnasium in Hamburg, which is to be made 5-lane and expanded with a new large sports hall.
KHR Architecture, together with its German partner bp:plan architekten & ingenieure, has won a competition to design a new Olympiastützpunkt, a state-funded centre for top Olympic athletes located in Hamburg. The assignment includes remodelling, new construction and outdoor areas with a construction budget of EUR 31.5 million and a total of 16,820 sqm of construction.
A new restaurant with outdoor seating will soon be completed in Nuuk. Greenlandic media Sermitsiaq has interviewed the restaurant's owner and KHR partner Janina Zerbe about the project.
