The board of the Plastics Industry Composites Section justifies the selection with: "The project has investigated fibre-reinforced polymer composites integration as a material in the art of building and has sought to find new ways in which high technological and material innovation can be used to create new architecture of high quality and spatial aesthetic value.
Based on an architectural study of the specific material properties of fibre-reinforced plastics (structural strength, dimensional stability and thermal insulation) as well as architectural qualities (translucency, colour and surface), the project has investigated how fibre-reinforced plastics can be used for the design of active surfaces."
"The project has also shown the textile principles that the material implies. Fibre reinforcement of fibre-reinforced plastics involves thinking through the fibre directions and underlying contexts in which the fibre reinforcement can be assembled.""The project has shown the use of fibre-reinforced polymer composites is relevant in contemporary construction and can lead to new innovative and socially sustainable solutions of high architectural value."
