Pre-qualified for two competitions in Germany

KHR is pre-qualified for two competitions in Germany: a new hospital and the development and refurbishment of a school building.

KHR, together with hospital planners LOHFERT - PRAETORIUS and German landscape architects Kuttner & Kahl, has been prequalified for the competition for a new hospital for Heidekreis-Klinikum GmbH.

The new building will be centrally located in Bad Fallingbostel/Niedersachsen, and will replace and merge two existing hospitals in Soltau and Walsrode respectively. The functional programme of the new building includes 4 operating theatres, 345 somatic and 31 psychiatric beds as well as dialysis departments, in total about 45,000 m2 gross.

School centre Achter de Weide

Together with our German partner Dohse und Partner Architekten, we have been prequalified for the competition for the extension and conversion of Schulzentrum Achter de Weiden in the city of Schenefeld/Schlesvig-Holsten, just outside Hamburg.

The extension includes a new school building of approximately 7,700 m2 gross, where the functional coherence with the existing building and a sustainable energy concept are the main elements of the competition. The refurbishment and renovation totals approximately 10,000 m2 gross.

New climate requirements for construction

As Denmark ramps up its green ambitions, climate requirements for construction have been tightened. From 1 July 2025, all new buildings will have to meet new CO2e limits, which are now lowered to an average of 7.1 kg CO2e/m²/year. These requirements will affect all aspects of the construction process and apply to more building types than before.

Naasut daycare centre

Naasut daycare centre is located directly adjacent to Nuuk's new school Inussuk. Here there is room for play and learning, inclusion and diversity. Naasut means flower in Greenlandic, referring to the delicate floral motifs on the customised facade.
