How do you create a good indoor climate and thus a good learning environment in schools? KHR Architecture's research unit has contributed to a new publication from Realdania.
Better indoor climate in schools in Denmark
Realdania has collected 30 research-based examples that provide concrete inspiration for working with the indoor environment in schools, where many old school buildings do not meet today's standards for a good physical environment for learning.
The collection of examples is part of a larger Realdania campaign entitled "Indoor climate of schools"to provide inspiration and concrete tools to improve the indoor environment, especially in the many older schools where poor acoustics and noise, high CO2 levels, wrong temperatures or poor lighting conditions challenge the good learning environment. Interested parties can obtain a specific catalogue of ideas to be used in the strategic work to improve the indoor climate and learning environment in schools.

Adaptive LED lighting optimises learning and energy consumption
KHR's Head of Research, Kjell Yngve, has contributed an article highlighting how the use of adaptive LED lighting can improve the learning environment while saving energy. Research is based on user surveys at Tilsted and Hanstholm schools in Thisted Municipality and shows, among other things, that user involvement is crucial for achieving an effect from the installation of modern LED lighting.
