The station was designed by DSB\u2019s chief architect, Heinrich Wenck, in the late 19th century. The refurbishment was carried out whilst maintaining full train services, which placed significant demands on the logistics, methodology and planning of the renovation project. Passenger numbers at \u00d8sterport Station have risen to around 35,000 travellers a day following the opening of the Cityringen, and the newly renovated \u00d8sterport Station is well equipped to cope with this.
