Berlingske enthusiastic about the restoration of \u00d8sterport Station<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After more than 2 years of renovation and modernisation, the listed station building from 1897 has reopened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Original architectural qualities combined with modern functionality<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

KHR Architecture has completed the architects <\/a>in close cooperation with the Culture Agency, so that the original architectural qualities have been reintegrated. At the same time, the building's functionality has been updated to meet today's needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colour archaeological studies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the original and colourful architecture of the building has been restored following colour archaeological studies. The basic red and green colours of the woodwork have been used as a continuous theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adapted increased passenger numbers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the original yellow and blue paintwork on the woodwork and the restored explosives have been restored. With the opening of the new Metro Cityring, the number of passengers at \u00d8sterport Station is expected to increase from around 30,000 to 45,000 daily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The station's passenger areas have been expanded, and two new entrances in the building's gables are helping to service the increased passenger numbers. The original double-height arcades against the building's two handsome barrel vaults have been exposed, and new glass partitions provide views to ticket sales, customer service and station shops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restoration of terrazzo floor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The building's original terrazzo floor <\/a>has been rehabilitated and new terrazzo stairs have been built with integrated handrails for the visually impaired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Externally, the roof and timber-framed facades have been renovated in conjunction with the construction of the two new entrances. At the same time, the corridors have been upgraded with new floor, wall and ceiling finishes and contemporary lighting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
