- "We are really proud to have been selected as one of 12 teams to design a proposal for the prestigious new Campus HafenCity in Hamburg. There are a lot of good design firms in the competition, but we have a solid background in educational buildings and I believe that our good ideas can go all the way," says Palle Bo Rasmussen, responsible for the German market at KHR Architecture.

- "There will be a lot of new schools built in Hamburg in the coming years, but Campus HafenCity will have a location and a level of attention that requires something special. The new school will be operational, sustainability and expression be a beacon for modern school building. We can't wait to get started!"

The new HafenCity district in Hamburg, probably best known for its Elbphilharmonie landmark, is to have its own district secondary school. Hamburg's new and attractive port district currently has only one primary school and lacks capacity for the many new children in the area. This needs to be addressed with an 8-track secondary school and a day care centre. At the same time, the school is intended to be a meeting place for associations and other organisations in the area.

Finding the right site for the big new school in the harbour district hasn't been easy. The site chosen borders a major road, a railway line and a park next to a number of new homes. Office buildings are planned and partly already built parallel to the railway facilities. In other words, it is a complex urban context where the modern and sustainable school of about 14 000 m² will be built.

Entries are due in April and the jury is expected to make a decision in June.

The ambition is to have the new school operational by 2025. In the meantime HafenCity Campus already started up in temporary container buildings.

Read more about KHR's expertise in educational building and see relevant projects here.

KHR Architecture is to design a prestigious school building for 1600 students in Hamburg's new port district.

"_seopress_social_twitter_img_attachment_id":0
[92

post-13800","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-khr-projects
["GET
Attractive new district lacks a higher education institution
